Malayalam director Siddique passes away

Renowned Malayalam director Siddique passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 69. He was suffering from liver ailment and had been admitted to Amrita Hospital in Kochi for the past one month. He suffered a heart attack on Monday and was put on ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support. However, he could not be revived and passed away on Tuesday night.

Siddique was a pioneer of comedy films in Malayalam cinema. He directed some of the biggest comedy blockbusters of all time, including Ramji Rao Speaking, In Harihar Nagar, Godfather, and Vietnam Colony. He also directed several successful Hindi and Tamil films.

Siddique was born in Kochi in 1954. He started his career as an assistant director to Fazil in the 1980s. He made his directorial debut in 1989 with the film Kakkakuyil. His second film, Ramji Rao Speaking, was a huge success and made him a household name.

Siddique went on to direct over 100 films in Malayalam, Hindi, and Tamil. He also acted in a few films, including Narasimham and Pokkiri.

Siddique was a recipient of several awards, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Director for Godfather and Vietnam Colony. He was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2019.

Siddique is survived by his wife, Sajitha, and three daughters.

His death is a huge loss to the Malayalam film industry. He was a gifted director and a versatile actor. He will be remembered for his contribution to Malayalam cinema for many years to come.
